Twyford CoFE Trust
Ada Lovelace
The Twyford Church of England Academies Trust is comprised of William Perkin CofE High School, Twyford CofE High School, Ealing Fields High School, Ada Lovelace CofE High School and two sixth form centres based at Twyford and William Perkin.
Ada Lovelace School, part of the Twyford CoFE Trust, commissioned Badgeable to provide consultancy services to support the development of a D&T curriculum in the area of computer aided design, enabling students at KS3 to design / make & evaluate using appropriate technical software and 3-D printing . Students at Ada Lovelace already follow a strong Art and Design curriculum which covers Graphic Design as well as Fine Art and SLT were keen to supplement this with approaches which would be used in Engineering pathways available to students post-16 & post-18.
The project had two stages as staff capacity was built and the Trust identifies the appropriate curriculum provision. In stage 1 a bespoke course was designed for delivery at Ada Lovelace with Yr 7 in their activities week. Stage 2 is to extend the offer across all 4 schools within the Trust and extend the provision across the 4 schools in the trust.
A curriculum unit was commissioned as an introduction to Computer aided design (CAD) and Design Thinking in Design and Technology (D&T) covering an inspirational and engaging launch assembly, introductory sessions for students to access CAD software and begin to learn functionality, a fully resourced 2 x day workshop - for 100 students as a time and an assessed outcome with a digital credential issued for participants who reached the required competency.
